I dare you to find someone who went to the Michael Buble concert and did not find it absolutely entertaining. I bet even the 4 guys in the front row who Michael bought beer for and kept trying to include in the show but who every time they showed on the big screens were just sitting there, arms folded, expressionless...I bet even they had fun, on the inside. At the very least they got 2 free beer each, which is more than most guys can say about being dragged to a concert (we assume) by their wives. He also took time to sign autographs and get photos done (which quickly got out of hand, so he went back on stage) and sent the hoochies in their tube tops back to their seats. It was AWESOME. He was like, I'm sorry, but I feel like a huge dork right now. I am not a backstreet boy, and I don't want to be one. Please go back to your seats. And everyone applauded. He said, I don't want to be a jerk, but aren't you all glad they went back to their seats? yes, yes we are. It's NOT that kind of show, sit the hell down you hooches.
Even the opening act, Naturally 7, was amazing. I'm hesitant to buy the cd, just because I think a lot of the fun was in actually seeing them perform their songs. You've probably heard their one song, it's a remake of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight". It's really cool, but even cooler when you realise that they don't use any instruments. At all. It's just them, making like, drum, and bass, and guitar noises with their mouths. My sister and I tried to record some to share with you, but the cell phone voice recorders, they're just not that stellar, and it was just loud and terrible on playback.
(sidebar: I've ordered but am still waiting for the usb connector for my phone, which I hope will facilitate my making free ringtones and putting them on my phone)
Anyway. If Buble came back tomorrow, I'd go. I'd be broke quickly if I did that often, but it was a great show. I also got 2 pretty scarves at Old Navy, so all in all it was a good weekend. Nice dinner at Bogarts, time with my sister, quality time for the man and the boy together, it was a win, win, win. Which is good, because this weekend and next are committed to the man's family in their hometown, and I can only take so much of that. Truly, lovely people, but not my people, despite the fact that we've been in each others' lives for...8 years now. That's a long time. I went to ladies night last night there, and I did win a $25 gas card, so that made up for the fact that I couldn't drink. Sort of.
