one MILLION DOLLARS!

I feel the need to express my disappointment in the Trading Spaces 100 Grand episode. As I had feared, it was just a matter of them wasting $50 000 each. Doug did better than Lori, she spent just obscene amounts of money on stupid things that they people probably won't even appreciate. Her first purchase was a chair for $2300. A chair. Not an antique, not a comfy chair, just a stupid chair. And I'm sure people will disagree with me here, but my feeling is that you don't have to buy something just because you can afford it. Jenn agreed with me that they could have created very similar looks with their normal budget. Doug couldn't have, because he bought them all new appliances for the kitchen, but it just was sort of a letdown. Sony gave both homeowners new stuff, a tv and surround sound system for one, and a new computer and tv for the other I believe. I'm jealous, but it was sort of frustrating to see that amount of money spent on making over a room, and not knocking out walls or installing giant aquariums or anything cool like that. Cause that's what I would have done, obviously. A huge aquarium, built in to the wall.

I had a decent day at work today; it was International Teachers' Day, so we all got apples in our mailboxes from the district. I thought that was nice, I love presents, especially the unexpected ones. I had to bring a bunch of marking home. I haven't done any for my grade 11/12 class, and I have a bunch of critiques I have to go over. I see popcorn and hot chocolate in my future, but I'll have to mark the art before the popcorn so I don't get anything greasy. I've gotten some really really really nice stuff from my students, I'll post some pictures whenever I get around to it.

For now though, I'm going to make some supper and hit the marking. Mort just came over and sat on my arms, I'll take that as a sign that I should stop typing now.
