some of you may recall

I got engaged a while back. We've been fairly busy what with the having a baby and moving to Fredericton thing, but that's all relatively settled out now, so we're thinking maybe we should actually start planning this wedding thing. Since I've only been to like, 4 weddings (1 park, 1 church, 1 catholic church (yes, it's its own category) and 1 in a home), and the fiancé is a man, we're sort of hard up for ideas. Going away is nice, but we both have broke friends who wouldn't be able to make it anywhere exciting. At the same time, I don't want to have a lame-o wedding that I'll regret for not being cooler.

We sort of thought of having it at my parents cottage, but there just isn't space there for people to hang out / stay over, or at their house because they have a nice huge yard, but we'd have to decide that really soon, because I think we're aiming for a fall wedding, and the decorating in my parents' yard is courtesy of hurricane Juan. That guy was a jerk. It's totally do-able, but would take a little time. So basically, I'm looking for ideas.

I've been watching Wedding Story on TLC, but the weddings on there are almost exclusively churchy, and we're just not. We're also not the "Life's Weird Weddings" type though, where they get married underwater and whatnot. I may not be the princess type, but I do want to have a nice dress and flowers. So any ideas in general, or locations, or good places to have receptions, I'm all ears. Or eyes, in this case, since I'll be reading. I feel sort of silly, like that as a girl I should have all this stuff planned out, but I just don't. I don't even know where to begin.

Eloping is tempting, but out of the question as our parents would quite literally kill us.

I think also we should involve the cats. They can wear little kitty tuxedoes or something.

Just kidding. They wouldn't wear tuxedos. Just fancy collars.
