monopolies

not the board game. I have just received my power bill for the month, and am upset to find a "monthly service charge" of $16.25. Now, if this were like the phone company where you pay $35 or whatever, and that's for all your calls for the month, that's one thing. But the power folks are charging me for every kwh I use, and this extra service fee just for fun, as far as I can tell. We don't have a choice here for power, as in most places I'm sure. If I owned my own house I'd probably switch to natural gas, but I can't just get that hooked up in my apartment.

I'm going to have to call them and see what's up. I'll let you know what they say.
